2yrs + session 9.15am – 12 midday and 3yrs/4yrs+ session 9.15am – 12.30pm
Our typical morning session will include a balanced combination of free choice and adult directed activities. The weekly ‘homelink’ topic and key person curriculum activities enhance our daily provision of resources. Children have a choice of activity ‘zones’ to support skills.
We offer ‘hands on’ learning with craft, construction, storytime, imaginative and role play, writing or ‘mark making’, sensory (such as a ‘feely’ bag, water, sand), music making and dance, indoor physical games (small and large equipment), counting games and rhymes using real objects. We have a snack café for the children which includes a selection of rice, fresh fruit, milk and water.
The outdoor grass and all weather play areas are used extensively. Each term has a special event such as a special visitor, festival, charity fundraiser or Sports Day.
HOMELINK is how we make sure parents are part of their child’s experience at pre-school. We invite you to come into our session to help with storytime, writing table and outside play. Or you may have a special job or skill you would like to show the children at circle time. You will receive a weekly e-newsletter with information about all our activities and special events so you can talk to your child about what s/he is doing at school. We send out ‘homework’ which is fun and an opportunity for parents to help underpin our weekly learning at pre-school.
‘Multi Sport’ Coaches, our very popular coaches return to help the 3yrs + children improve their physical skills. There will be 8 ‘workshops’ per term and they are free of charge.
Lunch Club is available 12.30 – 1pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for our 3 – 4 year olds. To ensure you have a place, you can book and pay for lunch club on a termly basis. Spare places can be booked and paid for ‘on the day’ with the manager but places cannot be guaranteed.
Booster Club is a combined lunch and phonics/numeracy activity class, 12.30 – 1.30pm for the older children who will be going onto Reception class the following September. We do cover this teaching in our normal session curriculum but we offer a 1:4 adult/child ratio and some extra tlc during Booster Club. This has proved to be popular with both children and parents.
